Traumatized?

Unprocessed trauma can cause harm in all spheres of our being.

“After a traumatic experience, the human system of self-preservation seems to go onto permanent alert, as if the danger might return at any moment.”

~Judith Lewis Herman.

The most basic assumptions about yourself and the world is shattered by trauma. It can become challenging to trust yourself or the external world, which permanently can put you in a state of hyper-vigilance, leading to increased anxiety.

When traumatized, we can be vulnerable to engage in harmful behaviour that temporarily numbs or suppress.

Your trauma may not be your fault, but your healing remains your responsibility.

Your quality of life, and living well again, can be restored. Professional help can assist to release the emotional charge of a traumatic incident, and to integrate the experience on a sensory level, which is both necessary for healing.

We don’t have to continue to live in memories we are trying to forget...
